CommNet LLC is a boutique consulting firm specialising in market development and business expansion for companies bringing IoT, AIoT, RTLS and related technologies to industrial markets — on both sides of the Atlantic.

It was founded by someone who has spent his entire career doing exactly what he now helps clients do: opening new markets, building high-performance sales teams, and turning technology into revenue.

The person behind CommNet

I started my career at Hewlett-Packard in January 1976. Back then, selling technology meant earning trust the old-fashioned way — by understanding your customer’s business better than they did, and showing up consistently to prove it. That hasn’t changed. The technologies have.

Over the next five decades I worked across the US and Europe in sales, sales management, and executive leadership — for some of the most demanding technology companies in the world. I’ve run organizations of 125 people, managed $85 million in annual revenue, navigated acquisitions, and rebuilt teams from scratch after markets shifted.

In 204 I founded CommNet in the UK to put that experience to work for smaller companies that couldn’t afford to make expensive mistakes entering new markets. In June 2018 I re-registered CommNet LLC in Frisco, Texas, to serve the growing number of US and EMEA companies looking to expand across the Atlantic with connected industrial technology.

I don’t consult from the sidelines. When I take on a client, I act as an embedded part of their team — building the pipeline, developing the channel, and staying accountable to the numbers.

  • Began professional career in technology sales. Developed the discipline, rigour and customer-first mindset that has shaped everything since.

  • Appointed to run European operations for this publicly traded semiconductor EDA software company (place & route tools). Led a team of 125 across Europe. Grew regional revenue to $85 million annually.

  • Avant! acquired by Synopsys in June 2002. Stayed on to lead global sales integration, managing a team of 20 reporting to Vicky Andrews, SVP Global Sales.

  • Founded CommNet as an independent consulting firm, focused on technology market development and cross-border business expansion in Europe.

  • Re-registered CommNet LLC in Frisco, TX. Expanded focus to US–EMEA market entry for IoT, AIoT and RFID companies in industrial sectors.

  • Series of consulting and embedded BD roles for technology companies entering new geographies.
